"Everything is for the best" is an old folk tale. It's not just a story, but also a principle and foundation that I believe in for many aspects of my life. Mainly, it's the stage before acceptance.
I thought a lot about what to write for my first article and couldn't find anything better than the story of "It's all for the best" (لعله خير) to start my writing with, especially since I almost daily repeat the phrase "everything is good" (كله خير) in most of my life events.
The story begins when a king and his vizier were on a hunting trip. With every attempt the king made to hunt, he failed, and each time the vizier would say to him, "It's all for the best."
Later, as they were walking, the king fell into a pit. The vizier also said, "It's all for the best," so the king ignored what the vizier had said, especially since his hand had started bleeding. He went to a doctor who told him he must amputate the bleeding finger.
This made the king very angry, and he refused to have his finger cut off. But since the bleeding wouldn't stop, the only solution was to amputate the finger, as the rest of his body would be harmed if he didn't. At that moment, the vizier also said, "It's all for the best."
This made the king even more furious, and he ordered the vizier to be imprisoned. And of course, the vizier said, "It's all for the best!!!" which increased the king's astonishment.
On another day, the king went out hunting with his guards. Suddenly, they were ambushed by a group of people who worshipped idols and intended to offer him as a sacrifice to their gods. When they presented him to the leader of the tribe, upon seeing that the king's finger was missing, he ordered that he be left alone because their sacrifice must be whole and without any flaws.
After this incident, the king returned to his palace happily, asking his attendants to bring the vizier from prison.
The king then told the vizier what had happened and apologized for how he had treated him. He asked, "Why did you say 'It's all for the best' when I ordered you to be imprisoned?" The vizier replied, "If you hadn't imprisoned me then, I would have been with you on your last trip, and I would have been the sacrifice instead of you."
The vizier continued, saying that anything that happens to a person, no matter how bad it seems from a person's point of view, has some good in it.
Many times we believe that what happens to us is bad and catastrophic, unaware of what might have happened had it not been for that event, or we believe that something else would have been better for us, not realizing its consequences, even if we thought it was the best for us.
